Some powerful people think Eminem might be nominated for an Oscar this year. Brian Grazer, the producer of such films as Ransom and The Grinch, says Eminem's big-screen debut could land the rapper an Academy Award. Grazer, who won an Oscar last year for A Beautiful Mind, apparently has nothing but praise for the controversial recording artist's performance in the upcoming, semi-autobiographical film 8 Mile, for which Grazer also served as a producer.
"He's turned in a performance that reminds me of Stallone in Rocky," said Grazer to a studio executive, according to Internet newsman Matt Drudge. "I think the audience is going to be blown away, so will the Academy. I think we've got a good shot at being nominated."
8 Mile certainly has an Academy Award pedigree: in addition to Grazer, the movie stars Oscar winner Kim Basinger and was directed by another Oscar winner, LA Confidential's Curtis Hanson, who has also publicly sung the praises of Eminem (born Marshall Bruce Mathers III).

Málið er að ég hef spilað þennan leik síðan í fyrra einhvern tímann, en ég kunni ekkert á leikinn þá og var bara að fikta, yfirleitt var það þannig að ef ég keypti hlutabréf í kvikmynd þá féll hún í verði strax og þegar ég seldi þá þaut hún upp, ferlega pirrandi. En núna hef ég lesið mér helling til um þennan leik og er meira að segja byrjuð að spila á opnarana, með mismunandi afleiðingum, eins og áður hefur komið fram.
Ég tók þessa skjámynd fyrir svona 10 mín síðan og hef grætt u.þ.b. 25.000 síðan þá :) Ég er snillingur. Ég meina, ég er búin að 1000falda upphæðina sem maður byrjar með. Reyndar á soldið löngum tíma, en meirihluti þessa peninga hefur samt komið undanfarna 2 mánuði. But his wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, reckons the Oscar-nominated star of the film Ali is scared of spiders - let alone aliens - in real life.
She told reporters at the premiere that Smith had to call for help to deal with "three tiny brown spiders" during a holiday in Spain.
Meanwhile, Tommy Lee Jones said he would be prepared to take part in Men In Black 3.
He said: "It's up to the audience if they want it to be a franchise."
In Men In Black 2, Agent J uncovers a plot masterminded by Serleena (played by Lara Flynn Boyle) - an evil monster who disguises herself as a sexy lingerie model.
When Serleena takes the entire Men In Black building hostage, there is only one person left for Agent J to turn to - his former partner, Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones).
Lara Flynn Boyle also attended the LA premiere of the film, along with co-star Rosario Dawson and Hollywood stars Matthew Perry, Samuel L Jackson and Christian Slater.

(Katrillion) -- They may have shot them all back-to-back-to-back, but "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy still has a long way to go before it's officially complete.
Oscar nominee Sir Ian McKellen, who plays the mighty Gandolf, said "there is so much yet to be done" for the second chapter in the trilogy. On his official website, McKellen.com, Ian mentioned that the cast and crew are currently out in New Zealand reshooting scenes for "The Two Towers," which is scheduled to open Dec. 18.
In addition to reshoots, the creative crew is working on everything from special effects to the musical score, which will begin recording in August.
Digital effects specialist Andy Serkis told McKellen that he is still knee-deep in his work on the digital Gollum. And he assures "LOTR" fans that Gollum will be one of the trilogy's best characters. "Gollum will astonish, delight and move you," he said. "Cave Troll fans ain't seen nothing yet."
But with all this work still being done for "The Two Towers," will the movie be able to meet its release date? Of course! A rep at New Line assures us that everything is right on schedule.

Columbian sensation Shakira has attracted what is likely to be her most controversial fan yet - Kid Rock.
The 25-year-old Latino bombshell picked up two awards at 16 June 2002's Muchmusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada, before enjoying some downtime at the backstage bar.
And Rock - who had long been expressing his desires to meet Shakira - was there with his fiancee Pamela Anderson.
On seeing the tasty singer, eyewitnesses say he ran up to her and gave her a bear hug which almost knocked her down - while he still had his belle Anderson attached to his arm.

British actress Samantha Morton found working with Steven Spielberg on new movie Minority Report a particular pleasure - because the director can command as big a budget as he wants. Morton was delighted with the "magic" of Spielberg's film set - which, in contrast to her previous big screen outings, she attributes to the never-ending supply of hard cash. She says, "On one level a film set is a film set, but beyond that there is another magic that I had never experienced before. That magic is when people have the money to be free with what they want to do. So often the frustrations on a film set are: 'We can't afford to do that. We haven't enough time'. To have the time and the energy and dedication to be able to do what you want is just a luxury."
Chris Tucker 'Too Rich' To Feud With Chris Rock
Chris Tucker insists there's no reason why he and fellow funnyman Chris Rock should be feuding - because they're both outrageously rich. At the moment both Tucker, 29, and Rock, 36, are writing and preparing separate comedies about a White House occupied by a black commander-in-chief, with both listed as directors and lead actors. Tucker's project is entitled Mr. President, while Rock's is called Head Of State. But while Tucker clearly came up with the concept as early as 1999, Rock is the one who'll start shooting his flick in July, which has sparked reports of a bad blood between the pair. But Tucker refuses to accept that he and Rock could even contemplate embarking on a personal feud, because they both have very healthy wallets. One of the most-talked about aspects of the upcoming film Men In Black 2 are two scenes featuring the "King Of Pop" himself, Michael Jackson. Although rumors of his involvement were well-publicized, Jackson's onscreen appearance at a screening of the film in New York City last Friday (June 21) was met with a stunned sigh from the audience, followed by guffaws and applause so loud all of his dialogue became completely inaudible.
Star Will Smith explained to LAUNCH how Jackson got in the film in the first place. "Michael called after the first film. He said he saw the first film in Paris and he said, 'Look, Will, I don't care what happens. If you are making a part two of this film, I am in this film.' Michael, he's a real movie buff, so he said when he saw this (the first Men In Black), it was the most creative thing he'd ever seen. He said he just couldn't compare it to any other film. He said he was absolutely a part of it (the sequel). He didn't care what we said (about his role)."
Smith explains that the sight of Jackson--playing himself as an alien, decked out in that trademark Men In Black suit and consulting MIB boss Zed (Rip Torn) via a monitor--is a credit to Jackson's sense of humor. "You know, when he comes on the screen, people are really happy. It's as if Michael is saying to the world, 'OK, all right. I'm human just like everyone else. I appreciate a good joke just like everyone else does,' but the thing that I loved so much is he kept wanting to play it serious. You know, he was, like, 'You know, I'm a Man In Black, I just want it to be really serious.' I think people are going to be really shocked and really surprised, and enjoy seeing Michael in this film and in this light."

The producers of the Oscar-winning movie Gladiator are planning to make a sequel - without its original star Russell Crowe. Movie-maker Walter Parkes confirmed Dreamworks and Universal were working on the follow-up to the 2000 blockbuster. Parkes says, "We've started working on it. We have an idea." He added it would be impossible to write Crowe into the sequel, as he was killed off in Gladiator. Parkes adds, "Maximus is dead-dead-dead, no coming back and the story picks up things 15 years later." However, Parkes still hopes that Crowe may have a brief cameo appearance in the film. He says, "That's not an easy one, but believe me we've tried to mull over all the possibilities." The studio are hoping to gain back director Ridley Scott, who is planning to reunite with Crowe in Tripoli later this year.

She was trying to joke about herself and at no level was she trying to be disrespectful to the courts and legal system." Ryder has pleaded not guilty to all charges related to her alleged shoplifting from a Beverly Hills store, and is awaiting trial.

The Holmes Place therapist told British tabloid Daily Mirror, "I was desperately trying to control the dog and Geri made no effort to help at all. She was rude from the start. She kept telling me to get on with it, wouldn't look me in the eye and didn't even ask if Harry was allowed in. The minder glared at me the whole time and I was really intimidated by him. I was practically shaking because he was watching everything I did. Geri was so rude and obnoxious I won't treat her again."

Steven Spielberg's relieved to have finally directed Tom Cruise in his new movie Minority Report - because it fulfills a twenty year long ambition. The legendary film-maker first met Cruise on the set of his 1983 film Risky Business - and has wanted to make a film with him ever since, as their friendship grew away from the big screen. Spielberg says, "I think that we always knew we were going to work together. I said when I first met Tom on the set of Risky Business, 'I really want to direct you in a movie.' It was going to happen and it was not going to happen because we forced it to happen. It was going to happen because something just felt right. We've come close a couple of times, but we felt really, really good about this one." And Cruise is so happy with the results of their collaboration he wants to do it again. He says, "Steven's been my friend for many years and to have this chance to work with him, I can just say it was the greatest experience I ever had. It was extraordinary for me. Two men accused of trying to extort money from Russell Crowe have been acquitted. Philip Cropper and Malcolm Mercer were accused of trying to blackmail the actor with a video they claimed to have of the Gladiator 'whacking a shelia and a bloke' outside a nightclub. They were said to have threatened to sell it to television stations unless he gave them AUS$200,000 (£77,000).The judge at the Coffs Harbor District Court in Australia told the jury to return a not guilty verdict because the prosecution had failed to prove that the pair demanded money from the Gladiator actor. 'There seems to be not much doubt in this matter that money was an object, but what the prosecution has to prove was there was a demand for money and that demand was supported by a threat,' said the judge.

"It's about character, darling," she told Newsweek for the July 1 issue, which goes on newsstands Monday. "I wasn't going to be a prostitute on film. I couldn't do that because it's such a stereotype about black women and sexuality." The actress made it clear that she didn't mean to criticize Halle Berry, who starred in the movie as a troubled waitress who had an affair with her husband's executioner. Berry won an Oscar for the role. Bassett was one of several actresses who passed on the role in "Monster's Ball." "It's about putting something out there you can be proud of 10 years later," she said. "I mean, Meryl Streep won Oscars without all that."

The singer revealed he never wanted to marry the actress - and the experience has now put him off re-marrying.

But there's no way she'll be appearing in his new film her voice simply isn't up to it. La Boheme is Puccini's classic operatic score, sung in Italian. Baz has spent most of the last two years searching the globe and he's auditioned 2,000 opera singers. And let's face it, Kylie's no opera singer."

The two met when the beauty Morleigh Steinberg was working with U2 during one of the bands American tours in 1992. Superstar Bono and his wife Ali Hewson were amongst those attending the ceremony at La Chevre d'Or in the quaint medieval village of Eze. Contrary to persistent rumors of a feud between her and Britney Spears, Columbian singer Shakira continues to reassure fans that there is nothing but healthy competition between the two stars.

The Sun caught up with the 49-year-old star on the set of Die Another Day in a car park at Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds.
A stunned local said: “I couldn’t believe it. Pierce Brosnan was in the middle of the car park with a gun in his hand.
“They had created these amazing looking ice caps.
“It was pretty weird seeing them there as it was a warm day.”
The film, the 20th in the Bond series, will also star Halle Berry and features Madonna in a cameo role which will feature a lesbian snog.
Rick Yune plays North Korean baddie Zao, who can alter his face at will.
At one point he chased Bond’s Aston Martin across the car park in a Jaguar with a huge machinegun on the back.
Pierce makes a fourth appearance as 007, the “licensed to kill” hero.
But as The Sun watched he forgot his lines and often referred to his script. Pierce, you just say: “The name is Bond ... James Bond.”

Flockhart To Join Ford in Indiana Jones?
Actress Calista Flockhart is apparently planning to team up with boyfriend Harrison Ford in the next Indiana Jones movie. Filming on Indiana Jones 4 is due to begin in May 2004, with the film looking more adult than its 1980s predecessors. A source says, "Harrison Ford had only one demand when he was approached about doing a fourth Indiana Jones movie - that Calista be written into the new movie. Luckily, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas loved the idea. They think Calista will be a perfect romantic interest for Indiana." And having the ex-Ally McBeal star on board solved one problem for the filmmakers. The source says, "The Indy team had no idea what to do with Indy for the fourth movie. Bringing Calista on board gave them inspiration and they dreamed up the whole story in just a few hours. Getting Calista into the movie was the kick-in-the-pants the guys needed."

Fans of American Pie star Shannon Elizabeth will be heartbroken at the news the Hollywood beauty has wed. Sexy Shannon tied the knot with her longtime lover Joseph D. Reitman last Saturday in Mexico. Aspiring Actress Dies on 'Analyze That' Set
An aspiring young actress has died mysteriously after invading the camera truck on the set of Robert De Niro's new movie Analyze That. Connecticut native Amanda Winklevoss, 23, was not involved in the sequel to De Niro and Billy Crystal's 1999 hit Analyze This but came across the production on Manhattan's 10th Avenue last Friday night. A source told the New York Post, "The movie was being filmed in the building, and there was a camera truck on the street with a ramp leading from the truck to the street." Winklevoss, ignoring her friends' protests, allegedly walked into the truck uninvited. The source continues, "The people in the truck asked her to leave, and the next thing they knew, they heard her scream." The camera crew rushed the unconscious Winklevoss to St. Vincent's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. A Warner Bros. insider says, "She fell from the truck - they don't know if she had a seizure, or what happened. Winklevoss entered an area where she was not supposed to be. She was an uninvited guest." Friends believed she may have been electrocuted - one pal recalls, "It was rainy and horrible that night. When she left the truck Amanda stepped into a puddle, and there was a cable in it. Her parents are very genteel old money in Greenwich and don't want to cause a stink, but we want to know if she was electrocuted." A Warner representative says, "Our hearts go out to Miss Winklevoss' family and friends. We are cooperating fully with the investigation into the cause of this terrible tragedy." Police are investigating and an autopsy was performed before her funeral Wednesday. A police source adds, "From what we understand, pending the toxicology report, the doctor at St. Vincent's who pronounced her dead said Winklevoss had the look of a cocaine or alcohol-type overdose."
Vampire-slaying Sarah Michelle Gellar has married her boyfriend, Freddie Prinze Jr, in a secret ceremony, according to American reports. The lovey-dovey twosome are believed to have tied the know three weeks ago at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. 'It was a midday ceremony, but I have to respect their privacy. I can't give out all the details,' said the chap who officiated. American critics have given Minority Report the thumbs up. The film stars Tom Cruise and is directed by Steven Spielberg. It is released in America today. (Katrillion) -- "Scooby-Doo 2" may be coming sooner than expected.
After the huge $54 million opening "Scooby-Doo" scored last week, a follow-up to the live-action animated film has been put in high gear. Deals to bring back Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini, as well as director Raja Gosnell, have reportedly been secured.
According to Variety, James Gunn, who penned the first film adaptation of the classic cartoon, is currently writing the script for the second.
Production is set to begin early next year, and the movie should hit big screens in 2004.
This has been an especially big week for Lillard, who plays Shaggy. The 32-year-old actor became a father June 13. His wife of 2 years gave birth to a baby girl named Addison Grace Lillard.

DNA tests have proven that millionaire Hollywood producer Steve Bing is the father of Liz Hurley's baby son Damian. The test results, ending months of speculation over the paternity of Hurley's child, were first disclosed at a hearing Wednesday before the family division of the High Court in London, where lawyers for both Bing and Hurley were present. Bing's spokeswoman, Sue Stapley, said, "Recently conducted tests have shown that Steve Bing is the biological father of Elizabeth Hurley's son, Damian Charles Hurley." Bing, 37, who had dated Hurley for 18 months when she became pregnant, issued a statement last December saying he was unsure whether he was the father, as Hurley had asserted publicly. He said at the time they had not been in an "exclusive relationship," while Hurley insisted she had been "completely loyal and faithful" to Bing during their relationship, "as, indeed, he assured me he was to me." Damian was born on April 4 this year, and Bing launched legal proceedings about two weeks later to establish the child's paternity. The outcome of the DNA test means the actress stands to gain substantial child support from Bing, the millionaire grandson of New York real estate magnate Leo Bing and a producer of such films as Get Carter. Stapley added, "Steven started the proceedings in the UK in order to get some certainty about the paternity of the child. He's now pleased that that's resolved. He has always said that if he were found to be the father of the child, he would make generous provisions and wish to be involved in the child's upbringing, and that still holds true."

The Rock Is King
Former wrestling superstar The Rock is taking further strides towards Hollywood superstardom by eyeing another royal role. The hunk - whose real real name is Dwayne Johnson - made his big screen debut in the 2001 hit The Mummy Returns and followed it up with a starring role in the spin-off The Scorpion King. He's now reportedly planning a new big screen adventure playing Hawaii's most famous warrior king, Kamehameha the Great. The Rock says he is currently working on a deal to play the monarch, who ruled between 1795 and 1819 and united the Hawaiian islands. He says, "Sony Pictures has just purchased the rights and the project will be in development for myself to play King Kamehameha in a movie based on his life." Meanwhile, Steve Elzer, a spokesman for Sony-owned Columbia Pictures, confirms, "We have had some discussions with The Rock and his people but there is no deal yet, and nothing we can talk about."

Russell Crowe Called to Court
Oscar-winner Russell Crowe may have to attend the Australian trial of two men accused of trying to extort money from him. Philip Cropper, 36, and Malcolm Mercer, 37, are charged with trying to extort money from Crowe in exchange for destroying a security video allegedly showing him fighting outside a nightclub in Coffs Harbour, Australia, in 1999. The Gladiator star, who owns a cattle ranch near the New South Wales Resort, is thought to be filming in Mexico and missed Monday's hearing at Coffs Harbour District Court. But Cropper's lawyer Paul King told the court he wanted to subpoena the actor to give evidence. Tom Cruise snubs Bizkit offer and update on Big Day Out Inquest
Tom Cruise has turned down the offer of a lifetime to join nu-metal supergroup Limp Bizkit.
Bizkit singer Fred Durst interviewed Minority Report actor Cruise on American music channel MTV last night and formally offered the Hollywood superstar the chance to replace departed guitarist Wes Borland.
Durst told Cruise live on air, "I know I'm here to talk about Minority Report, but I'm really here because we need a new guitar player."
Cruise replied to the offer saying, "That is one thing I wish - I wish I knew how to play. I always as a kid wanted to play the guitar. I don't play guitar, but I wish I did."
Limp Bizkit have been without a guitarist for over nine months since Borland quit the group at the end of the Chocolate Starfishtour last year (01). Various attempts, including a nu-metal style talent contest, failed to find a replacement.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck will star in the next Kevin Smith film, "Jersey Girl," which will be shot in Philadelphia this summer.
"I pushed to shoot in Philadelphia over Toronto because it's in America, I liked the locations here and because it's a great production center," Smith told The Philadelphia Inquirer. The sixth film from writer-director Smith, the dramatic comedy features Lopez, 31, and Affleck, 29, as parents of a preschool-aged daughter and has a budget of more than $20 million. Smith's previous works include "Clerks,""Mallrats" and "Chasing Amy," all set in New Jersey. He said "Jersey Girl" would be his first PG-13-rated film, "unless the MPAA gets weirdly stringent."
Since Lopez's recent split from husband Cris Judd, rumors have circulated that she and Affleck are romantically linked. The two recently finished another film together, Martin Brest's "Gigli," which will be released next year. But Smith said the two aren't a couple. "Are they dating? Unequivocally, no," he said.

Woody Harrelson Flees 14 Cops In Cab Rampage
Actor Woody Harrelson was wrestled to the ground and arrested by fourteen police officers who chased him Thursday after he allegedly went berserk in a London taxi. The Natural Born Killers star is said to have smashed up the cab's door, breaking a window and lock, before forcing his way out, hailing another cab and speeding off. The first taxi driver gave pursuit before calling police, who eventually intercepted Harrelson's cab. The 40-year-old star then fled on foot before finally being tackled and restrained by the officers in West London in the early hours of Thursday morning. He was arrested on suspicion of causing $420 worth of damage to the cab and spent the night in a cell before being freed on bail. Taxi driver Les Dartnell said he was hailed by Harrelson outside the trendy China White nightclub in central London. Harrelson was with a female companion but got in alone and asked to be taken back to his hotel. But moments later Les, 44, heard a loud crack. He says, "I turned round and he was kicking the inside of my taxi. He had suddenly gone completely bonkers. He was kicking the glass and trying to get out. I tried to find a space to pull over but he had already yanked back the door and broken it." Police will now send a file to the Crown Prosecution Service, who will decide if there will be charges. Harrelson must also report back to Belgravia police station on July 1. Harrelson refused to comment on the alleged fracas.

Pop star Michael Jackson has lent his support to the coalition of artists fighting exploitation by their record companies.
Despite being one of the most well-paid singers in the world, Jackson, who last album for Sony was a relative flop, has joined Rev, Al Sharpton and attorney Johnnie Cochran Jr's efforts to achieve more equality for musicians over the multi-national media organisations they are signed to.
"Economic servitude, no matter how comfortable the slave, is still slavery," Sharpton said. Cochran, who helped Jackson resolve a child molestation lawsuit for an estimated $20-million settlement, said, "This is a problem the record companies should be ashamed of. Artists have made billions for them."
Jackson got on the bandwagon and added, "Record companies have to start treating their artists with respect, honour and financial justice. Therefore, I am proud to join this coalition which represents all artists."
Jackson's move comes in the midst of a supposed battle between him and his record label - after he accused Sony of claiming he owed them $200 million after the massive costs accrued over last year's Invincible.
In a statement yesterday Jackson said, "For Sony to make a false claim that I owe them A$400 million is outrageous and offensive."
Sony quickly responded, "We have never issued any statement verbally or in writing claiming that Michael Jackson owes us $200 million. As a result, we are baffled by the comments issued today by his press representatives."
Mel Gibson is a good old fellow and no mistake. The actor has given a $10,000 (£6,900) saving bond to a teenage girl whose policeman father was shot dead so that she can continue her education. Kayla French's stepfather, an Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy, was killed on 29 April after pulling over a driver. Gibson, who recently became a representative for the Los Angeles Sheriff's Star Organisation, said, 'When I hear about a guy who is downed in the line of duty, it does break your heart because he goes for a traffic stop and some clown puts a slug in him. They put their lives on the line every single day.' French says that she will continue her studies and hopes to become a vet.

Filmmaking legend Steven Spielberg has hit out at claims Harrison Ford is too old to play Indiana Jones. The message boards on official site Moby.com have become inundated with foul-mouthed insults, and the bald vegan is blaming Eminem fans but he's determined not to let them get him down, instead preferring to laugh at their creativity.

But instead of playing it safe, Smith filmed himself driving to the set of the video shoot - a serious offence in California. The rapper soon realised he was in the wrong with his 'Willcam' ruse, but his moment of madness remains in the latest Making of the Video Show show.
In the show, Smith beams into the camera and says, "Kids, don't do this at home. This is like an episode of Cops where you're trying to videotape the cops and you're trying to videotape the crime." Then, looking worried, he adds, "It's dangerous, so let me stop." (wenn)

Steven Seagal's former producing partner Jules Nasso, along with a number of persons identified as members of the Gambino crime family, were arrested Tuesday on charges of plotting to extort money from a Hollywood film figure, later identified as Seagal. Experts who have viewed the hit film The Sum of All Fears have agreed that the filmmakers have been diligent in portraying a nuclear attack on Baltimore with accuracy. As reported in Tuesday's Baltimore Sun, Donald Lumpkins, an antiterrorism officer with the Maryland Emergency Management Agency, commented: "It always helps me to do my job when people understand a little of what we're dealing with." Aihud Pevsner, a high-energy physicist and professor at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, called the film "a cautionary tale for our times," but pointed out one quibble -- the fact that after the nuclear bombing of the city, people are still using cell phones. He observed that a nuclear detonation would release so much electromagnetic energy that unshielded electronic devices like cell phones would instantly "fry."

Christian Slater Graduates From High School
Hot on the heels of Steven Spielberg's college degree, movie star Christian Slater has passed a General Educational Development course in a bid to boost his academic background. The actor, who quit school before graduation to concentrate on his career, admits he has always regretted not having his high school diploma. But now, after two years of studying at home, Slater has a GED honor, which is the equivalent of graduating from high school. He says, "Eventually life just catches up to you, and whether school teaches it to you or life teaches it to you, you're going to learn your lessons - and I got to learn some lessons."
Cleese: I Wasn't Meant To Be Q Yet
James Bond star John Cleese had a secret deal with his film predecessor Desmond Llewelyn - but tragically never got to honour the agreement. Llewelyn played the secret agent's gadgets inventor Q in 17 of the mega- succesful movie franchise's 19 installments over a 36-year period. Cleese took a cameo role as Llewelyn's sidekick R in the last adventure, The World Is Not Enough, but didn't expect - or want - to be taking over Llewelyn's role quite so soon. Unfortunately Llewelyn's untimely death in a 1999 car crash, aged 85, meant Cleese had to step up and fill his shoes. Cleese says, "They weren't intending to say goodbye to him. The suave star is writing a book about the 18 months he spent living in Russia while he filmed the 1991 mini-series And Quiet Flows The Don. Rupert recalls, "I lived in an apartment in Moscow and the filming took place while (Boris) Yeltsin overthrew (Mikhail) Gorbachev. A lot of funny things happened. To be suddenly put in Russia for 18 months in quite a thing."

Rossdale explains, "We are going to have two weddings - one in London and one in America. Gwen suggested the London one as she really likes it here.
"I am a London boy at heart so I couldn't really get married anywhere else. All her family will be flying over.
"We didn't want to impose on anyone and want everyone there so we decided to do it in both places."

Enrique Iglesias has admitted he is lonely and wishes the rumours about his love affair with Anna Kournikova were true.
He says any artist who says they can't find time for romance is talking nonsense.
He adds that he isn't angry about the false stories claiming he was dating the Russian tennis star.
"There is no particular type of girl that I go for. However, I will say that I like independent and intelligent women," he told Croatian magazine Gloria.
"There is always time for love. Any artist who says they can't find time for romance is talking nonsense. But there are times when I feel lonely, particularly when I find myself alone in a hotel room after a concert.
"But it is far worse when you are surrounded by people who do not know you, or do not even like you, who you know are only there because you are famous.

Madonna is pregnant with her third child - according to the superstar singer's father Tony Ciccone.
British newspaper The Sunday People say Ciccone, 70, told them of his delight at the impending arrival - but refused to say too much after realising his announcement might not be welcomed by his famous daughter.
Ciccone, speaking from his home in Sutton's Bay, Michigan, America, said, "We are very excited that she is expecting again. It is always exciting when your children have children. I don't know if Madonna's child is a boy or a girl yet, we just want it to be healthy."

Britney Spears is in the middle of another animal rights controversy after hiring a zebra for her new video and making it climb stairs.
The four-year-old striped beast, named Zach, was brought in for Britney's "Boys" video, which also features Mike Myers and Taye Diggs.
All was well on the set until something spooked Zach and he slipped and fell from a stairwell.

CLEVELAND (AP) - Meg Ryan learned how to throw a few punches for her role as a boxing manager.
"I was so pathetic," she said during a break from filming "Against the Ropes."
"When you watch it, it looks like a brawl. But there is a science and art to it," she said. "In the ring, it is so pure and stripped away. But around the ring it is political, dirty, funny.
"It's a metaphor for Hollywood. It is the red-light district of sports."
To help with her role, Ryan said she read books on boxing, including those by authors Norman Mailer and Joyce Carol Oates.
The movie is actor Charles S. Dutton's directorial debut. He thinks Ryan hits the mark with her portrayal of a neophyte boxing manager.
"I think Meg is going to surprise a lot of people. This is a departure role for her," he said.

British actress Samantha Morton found working with Steven Spielberg on new movie Minority Report a particular pleasure - because the director can command as big a budget as he wants. Morton was delighted with the "magic" of Spielberg's film set - which, in contrast to her previous big screen outings, she attributes to the never-ending supply of hard cash. She says, "On one level a film set is a film set, but beyond that there is another magic that I had never experienced before. That magic is when people have the money to be free with what they want to do. So often the frustrations on a film set are: 'We can't afford to do that. We haven't enough time'. To have the time and the energy and dedication to be able to do what you want is just a luxury." 
Chris Tucker insists there's no reason why he and fellow funnyman Chris Rock should be feuding - because they're both outrageously rich. At the moment both Tucker, 29, and Rock, 36, are writing and preparing separate comedies about a White House occupied by a black commander-in-chief, with both listed as directors and lead actors. Tucker's project is entitled Mr. President, while Rock's is called Head Of State. But while Tucker clearly came up with the concept as early as 1999, Rock is the one who'll start shooting his flick in July, which has sparked reports of a bad blood between the pair. But Tucker refuses to accept that he and Rock could even contemplate embarking on a personal feud, because they both have very healthy wallets. He says, "I've heard all the reports that Chris and I are supposed to be feuding, but why would we do that? There's room for everybody to do what they want to do. He does his thing and I do mine. And anyway, rich people don't get mad at each other and feud. You can't get mad when you live in a mansion!"

The producers of the Oscar-winning movie Gladiator are planning to make a sequel - without its original star Russell Crowe. Movie-maker Walter Parkes confirmed Dreamworks and Universal were working on the follow-up to the 2000 blockbuster. Parkes says, "We've started working on it. We have an idea." He added it would be impossible to write Crowe into the sequel, as he was killed off in Gladiator. Parkes adds, "Maximus is dead-dead-dead, no coming back and the story picks up things 15 years later." However, Parkes still hopes that Crowe may have a brief cameo appearance in the film. He says, "That's not an easy one, but believe me we've tried to mull over all the possibilities." The studio are hoping to gain back director Ridley Scott, who is planning to reunite with Crowe in Tripoli later this year.

Winona Ryder's spokesperson has tried to placate prosecutors in her current shoplifting case - after they expressed anger at the actress' supposedly flippant attitude to the legal proceedings. Fifteen-years after Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey steamed up cinema screens with their raunchy hip-swinging moves, Dirty Dancing is coming back. A £49,000 diamond bracelet worn by Madonna on her wedding day has been stolen in a heist on a London store. The 19-carat French filigree bracelet, which was hand-picked by designer Stella McCartney to complement her superstar client's gothic-inspired gown, was among 13 stolen items, valued at a total more than £100,000. Disaster struck when robbers posing as builders used a steel girder to smash the security door at Moira's Antique Jewellers in London's Bond Street as it opened for business. Anna Kournikova is embroiled in yet another lawsuit. Hot on the heels of her high-profile case against Penthouse magazine for publishing fake nude photos, the tennis pin-up finds herself at the centre of a new scandal after her former flame, Rangers Hockey star Pavel Bure, decided to sue a newspaper for publishing misleading and crude comments about their relationship. Bure is furious about a story in which he allegedly revealed that Kournikova had extra sex organs. Steven Spielberg's relieved to have finally directed Tom Cruise in his new movie Minority Report - because it fulfills a twenty year long ambition. The legendary film-maker first met Cruise on the set of his 1983 film Risky Business - and has wanted to make a film with him ever since, as their friendship grew away from the big screen. Spielberg says, "I think that we always knew we were going to work together. I said when I first met Tom on the set of Risky Business, 'I really want to direct you in a movie.' Actor Woody Harrelson was wrestled to the ground and arrested by fourteen police officers who chased him Thursday after he allegedly went berserk in a London taxi. The Natural Born Killers star is said to have smashed up the cab's door, breaking a window and lock, before forcing his way out, hailing another cab and speeding off. The first taxi driver gave pursuit before calling police, who eventually intercepted Harrelson's cab. The 40-year-old star then fled on foot before finally being tackled and restrained by the officers in West London in the early hours of Thursday morning. He was arrested on suspicion of causing $420 worth of damage to the cab and spent the night in a cell before being freed on bail. Taxi driver Les Dartnell said he was hailed by Harrelson outside the trendy China White nightclub in central London. Harrelson was with a female companion but got in alone and asked to be taken back to his hotel. But moments later Les, 44, heard a loud crack. He says, "I turned round and he was kicking the inside of my taxi. He had suddenly gone completely bonkers. He was kicking the glass and trying to get out. I tried to find a space to pull over but he had already yanked back the door and broken it." Police will now send a file to the Crown Prosecution Service, who will decide if there will be charges. Harrelson must also report back to Belgravia police station on July 1. Harrelson refused to comment on the alleged fracas.

The pair met in March last year and announced their engagement two months ago.

Steven Seagal's former producing partner Jules Nasso, along with a number of persons identified as members of the Gambino crime family, were arrested Tuesday on charges of plotting to extort money from a Hollywood film figure, later identified as Seagal. As reported by Wednesday's Los Angeles Times, Nasso's attorney said that he had been aware that Seagal had been talking to a federal grand jury, but he ridiculed the extortion charges. Pointing out that his client has filed a $60-million lawsuit against the actor alleging breach of contract, attorney Barry Levin told the Times: "Why would any man who has a public lawsuit to vindicate his claims ... attempt to extort money from the guy?" However, according to the indictment, the feds have recorded conversations between Nasso and Gambino crime family captain Sonny Ciccone, in which Ciccone is heard instructing Nasso to demand $150,000 per film from Seagal. 
Experts who have viewed the hit film The Sum of All Fears have agreed that the filmmakers have been diligent in portraying a nuclear attack on Baltimore with accuracy. As reported in Tuesday's Baltimore Sun, Donald Lumpkins, an antiterrorism officer with the Maryland Emergency Management Agency, commented: "It always helps me to do my job when people understand a little of what we're dealing with." Aihud Pevsner, a high-energy physicist and professor at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, called the film "a cautionary tale for our times," but pointed out one quibble -- the fact that after the nuclear bombing of the city, people are still using cell phones. He observed that a nuclear detonation would release so much electromagnetic energy that unshielded electronic devices like cell phones would instantly "fry."

Madonna's family needs to start signing non-disclosure forms--her father Tony Ciccone has said that the music icon is pregnant again. Not surprisingly, Madonna's publicity machine is denying the story. "It's completely not true," a rep from Liz Rosenberg Public Relations told LAUNCH. Hot on the heels of Steven Spielberg's college degree, movie star Christian Slater has passed a General Educational Development course in a bid to boost his academic background. The actor, who quit school before graduation to concentrate on his career, admits he has always regretted not having his high school diploma. But now, after two years of studying at home, Slater has a GED honor, which is the equivalent of graduating from high school. He says, "Eventually life just catches up to you, and whether school teaches it to you or life teaches it to you, you're going to learn your lessons - and I got to learn some lessons." 
James Bond star John Cleese had a secret deal with his film predecessor Desmond Llewelyn - but tragically never got to honour the agreement. Llewelyn played the secret agent's gadgets inventor Q in 17 of the mega- succesful movie franchise's 19 installments over a 36-year period. Cleese took a cameo role as Llewelyn's sidekick R in the last adventure, The World Is Not Enough, but didn't expect - or want - to be taking over Llewelyn's role quite so soon. Unfortunately Llewelyn's untimely death in a 1999 car crash, aged 85, meant Cleese had to step up and fill his shoes. Cleese says, "They weren't intending to say goodbye to him. He was such wonderful company that we struck a deal. I was 60 when I started and Desmond was 80. So we agreed to go on together until he was 100, at which point I would have had enough experience to take over." 
British actor Rupert Everett is hoping to prove himself as a serious writer. The British star has already written the camp novels Hello Darling, Are You Working? and The Hairdressers Of St. Tropez, but wants to establish himself as an earnest scribe. The suave star is writing a book about the 18 months he spent living in Russia while he filmed the 1991 mini-series And Quiet Flows The Don. Rupert recalls, "I lived in an apartment in Moscow and the filming took place while (Boris) Yeltsin overthrew (Mikhail) Gorbachev. A lot of funny things happened. To be suddenly put in Russia for 18 months in quite a thing."
