The name of Madonna's bossy rich character in her new movie Swept Away has raised questions among hard-core fans - because it's exactly the same as her real-life mother-in-law.
Madonna, 44, plays a wealthy woman by the name of Amber Leighton in the flick, which has proved to be a disaster in the box office and with critics.
But few people have noticed her character shares the same name as the mother of Madonna's director husband Guy Ritchie. The character's name in the 1974 version of Swept Away was Raffaella Pavone Lanzetti.
But one-time model Amber, has already proven why the character could easily have been named after her.
She recently explained her son's reasons for marrying the pop diva, insisting, "I look at Guy sometimes and think he's married his mother in some respects. Word has it that Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue could star in "Grease 3."
According to Australian Women's Day Magazine, the songstress is considering a lead role in the third installment of the big screen classic. Minogue would play the daughter of the characters played by fellow Aussy Olivia Newton John and John Travolta in the original 1978 movie.
Calls to confirm the rumor have not been returned.
"Grease 3" is a project whose fate has been uncertain for more than two years. The boys from *NSYNC were originally said to be involved with the project as well, but that has seemingly fizzled out.
Rapper P Diddy's stage crew has to tape the name of the city he's performing in all over his live set, after one geographical mistake in Denmark led to messy scenes.
Diddy confused Denmark for Belgium during his most recent world tour leaving him forced to flea the stage as furious fans hurled chairs at him.
He recalls, "I was on a world tour and I was in Denmark but I'd played Belgium the night before and I made an advertisement and I guess I didn't see it, and I was like 'Is Belgium in the house? Belgium make some noise.'

"Alias" star Jennifer Garner says if a prequel is ever made into a movie, she probably won't be a part of it.
"I think I'm too old. It sounds like if they shot it, they would have to find a younger me," Garner said in a recent interview.
Garner plays graduate student/secret agent Sydney Bristow on the ABC series that airs on Sunday nights.

Nicole Kidman is set to join Britain's darkest comics, The League Of Gentlemen, in their new film.
The League - Mark Gatiss, Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton - are famous for the strange, often nightmarish characters that clutter their fictious village of Royston Vasey.
The madcap trio wanted to bag the actress to star in a film version of their cult BBC show.
They have already worked together. The three British comedians all had parts in Nicole's film Birthday Girl.
"Whatever we do, we should get Nicole Kidman in it," Pemberton told Snug magazine.
The League are due to begin working on the screenplay for the film early next year.
But the flick is likely to have a different title to the series - due to the forthcoming release of Sean Connery's new film, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
The Oscar winner confesses he is suffering from male menopause — but that's not all bad, he says.
He is no longer fueled by testosterone — which was like "being chained to a maniac."

A judge has dismissed a drugs charge against Hollywood actress Winona Ryder.
Following a prosecution request, Judge Elden Fox dropped the allegation that Ryder was in illegal possession of a painkiller when she was arrested for shoplifting last December.
But she still faces felony charges of grand theft, commercial burglary and vandalism.
Her trial was adjourned until October 24.
Outside Beverley Hills Superior Court, Ryder's lawyer, Mark Geragos, described the move as "highly significant" and said his client was relieved by the decision.
He pointed out that the defence team has always maintained she had a prescription for the pills, a generic painkiller called Percocet.
Mr Geragos said: "Its is unfortunate that it has taken 11 months for someone to see that but we applaud the decision."
He said she had been prescribed the pills by her doctor after breaking her arm while filming Mr Veets with actor Adam Sandler.
The Little Women star, who has always maintained her innocence, is accused of stealing designer goods including hats, bags and socks from exclusive store Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverley Hills.
Prosecutors allege she had taken £4,000 worth of merchandise when she was arrested just before Christmas last year.
Ryder, who is free on bail, could face three years in prison if convicted.
Matt LeBlanc has revealed that he is considering starring in a spinoff of Friends when the hit series ends its nine-year run next May. "There could be six spinoffs," he said. Britney Spears has hit back at Pink, after the US star made derogatory remarks about her pop rival.
She told Rolling Stone: "I heard that Pink said some really negative things about me. I met her, and she was really nice.
"She sent me flowers at my hotel room. And then next week she said something like, 'I don't think it's cool the way that she's like a puppet and she's really smiley and happy all the time."
But she added: "She's probably doing that to protect her whole gimmick thing. I respect that, but don't be a hypocrite and put me down when you're, like, performing with your belly showing, too. And the reason why I'm smiling is because I'm grateful.

Busty pop queen Christina Aguilera admits she is recovering from a nervous breakdown.
Betrayed by close friends and burned out by the brutality of the record business, the 21-year-old revealed how she hit rock bottom in April.
She says her new album, Stripped, was the circuit-breaker that brought her back from the brink of abandoning her pop career.
"This record saved me from insanity," Aguilera said.
"I've had to learn the hard way, though backstabbings and betrayals.
"A couple of very close people to me who I confided in have sold me out for money - confidantes who were working for me and who I trusted.
"It's sad learning in this business that money is more important to people than friendship.
"I am only young and I have had lots of lawsuits already.
You get to find out the hard way how ugly people can be.
"That's all taken its toll on me mentally. I went through a little breakdown around April because I felt that I couldn't trust anyone," Christina told The Sun newspaper.

Winona Drug Charges May Be Dropped
Prosecutors in Winona Ryder's forthcoming shoplifting trial have requested the dismissal of a felony drug charge against the actress. The Edward Scissorhands beauty, 30, had been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance since it was alleged she was carrying the painkiller Oxycodone when arrested on charges of shoplifting $6,000 worth of goods from Saks Fifth Avenue department store in Beverly Hills last December. Today the Los Angeles District Attorney said they were making the request "in the interests of justice" after receiving a sworn statement from a defense witness. The actress' attorney Mark Geragos had always maintained his famous client had a prescription for the painkillers. Winona has pleaded not guilty to all the charges of second degree burglary, grand theft, vandalism and possession of a controlled substance and was released on $20,000 bail. The trial, which has been delayed several times, is due to start on Tuesday. Deputy District Attorney Ann Rundle said in a statement today that she was ready to go ahead with the trial on the remaining three felony counts of grand theft, commercial burglary and vandalism.

The older brother of Hollywood starlet Reese Witherspoon has been arrested and charged with a sex attack on his neighbor. John Witherspoon, 29, who is employed as a chauffeur for the Legally Blonde actress, allegedly crept into a local Nashville, Tennessee resident's home and tried to strip the victim as she slept on her sofa. When the 25-year-old woman woke up, John allegedly kissed her on the face and neck before trying to take off her clothes. The victim recognized him so he stopped and quickly fled. John was charged with sexual battery and aggravated burglary on Saturday and has been released on $24,000 bail. When contacted by the press, the 26-year-old actress' publicist issued a "no comment."

R&B singer Toni Braxton has accused Destiny's Child babe Beyonce Knowles and rapper Jay-Z of ripping off her new single for their forthcoming duet.
Both Braxton's "Me And My Boyfriend" and "Bonnie & Clyde" by Knowles and Jay-Z use samples from slain hip-hop star Tupac Shakur 1996's song "Me And My Girlfriend".
Speaking on New York radio station WBLF, Braxton said she sent an advance copy of her song to Def Jam president Kevin Lilles last month and accuses a loose-lipped employee at Def Jam Records of telling Jay-Z about the track after hearing her new version of the song earlier this year at a top-secret album hearing session.
An Arista spokesman claims Braxton invited a friend from Def Jam to listen to the song a few months back: "Imagine our surprise after turning on the radio and hearing the new Jay-Z single, featuring Beyonce."
"It's the same song. They even use the same Tupac sample. Frankly, Toni is insulted and disappointed."

HOLLYWOOD (Zap2it.com) – Columbia Pictures is on the verge of being sued for its film "XXX" by the Russian firm that makes Red Army vodka. In the film, Vin Diesel’s character refers to the brand as his favorite drink.
Regata, which co-owns the Red Army trademark, claims that the studio used its product without sanctioning it first. "We have spent three years building up the brand's image," Regata spokeswoman Tatyana Zakablukova tells the Financial Times. "Such use of our brand simply discredits it."
Also suing the studio is San Diego-based High Point Group, which co-owns the trademark in the United States.
"We believe that using the brand without us knowing is inappropriate," adds Zakablukova. "We are aware that many companies pay for their brands to be mentioned in films."
In "XXX" Diesel plays an extreme sports athlete who goes undercover in Prague to help the U.S. government break a dangerous mob organization. The film was recently released in Russia.
"Die Another Day," Madonna's new single and the title track from MGM's upcoming James Bond film, will be released on October 22. The track is expected to debut at Number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Madonna and Mirwais wrote and produced "Die Another Day," while the song's string arrangements were provided by Michel Colombier.
"Die Another Day" is featured on Music From The MGM Motion Picture Soundtrack 'Die Another Day', which also contains the film score composed by David Arnold (Bjork). (Katrillion) -- It seems like Noah Wyle has had enough medicine to keep him healthy for the rest of his life.
The veteran, and only original "ER" cast member to appear on the drama every year since its premiere in 1994, may be hanging up his stethoscope for good when his contract expires in two years.
"The need to do something different is definitely growing on me," he says in this week's TV Guide.
However, when Katrillion caught up with the 31-year-old TV star, he hinted at a different option. "(The producers and I) haven't talked about extending my stay after my contract expires," he noted. "But I can't say that I would dismiss the conversation if it came up."
Wyle fans can chill out though, because he's definitely not leaving the ER that soon. The actor's committed to the show until the end of the 2003-2004 TV season -- after that, it's up in the air.
Our guess? After 10 years of playing doctor, anybody would start getting a little sick of the routine.

Donna De Lory has performed as the pop diva's backing singer and dancer on four world tours and admits that the pop star is easier to work with now she has two children to think about.

Whitney Houston is being sued for £66 million by her father's company, according to reports.
John Houston Entertainment claims the troubled diva is in breach of contract after failing to pay for their services in recent years.
Kevin Skinner, president of the company, claims he was not paid for helping Whitney through her arrest for marijuana possession and for helping her secure a record deal.
He told the singer: "Whitney, we love you. We want you to get yourself together. And we want to get paid."
Whitney's 81-year-old father has denied backing the lawsuit.
The Doors star Ray Manzarek has paid the ultimate tribute to tragic bandmate Jim Morrison by turning a script the late rocker wrote almost 40 years ago, into a new movie.
The keyboard player reworked a story Morrison wrote in 1965 and turned it into a new film, Love Her Madly, which has now been chosen as the highlight of the upcoming New York Independent Film Festival.
Morrison had hoped to turn the story into a movie which would help him complete his studies and graduate from UCLA Film School if his rock career didn't take off - but it did and the idea was forgotten until Manzarek stumbled across it a few years ago.
Manzarek says, "It's a story of love, obsession, and murder. Morrison's thinking was, 'If The Doors don't make it, I'll go back to this.' "He said, 'If this doesn't happen, I'll just go back to UCLA and get my Master's degree.'"
Manzarek, who not only rewrote and directed the film, but scored it too under the pseudonym Hip-Hop Hitchcock, admits it needed an extensive reworking. He adds, "You can't make the artistic movie that he made, with various poetic juxtapositions, Eisensteinian collisions of images, that sort of thing - that was his student movie."(WENN)

The two-year-old daughter of Jude Law and Sadie Frost was the focus of a major health scare this weekend after she swallowed ecstasy at a children's party. Iris was rushed to hospital and had her stomach pumped, was given a brain scan and kept in overnight before being given the all-clear. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at London nightspot, Soho House, where adults had been partying the night before. "It was awful for Sadie. She innocently took her daughter to a kids' party and her child picked up something and put it in her mouth, as children do, and it turned out to be ecstasy," a source informs this morning's Mirror. "The family has gone through hell." Iris was said to have picked up the pill from the floor of the nightclub and popped half of it into her mouth. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets will have its world premiere on November 3 in London, Warner Bros said.
Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, is expected to attend along with co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

Friends are gathering to help Gwyneth Paltrow cope with the death of her father, who died yesterday while celebrating his daughter's 30th birthday in Rome, Italy. Paltrow has been very vocal in recent weeks about her relationship with her beloved dad and friends know the death of her dad will have devastated her because she's closer to her father than most daughters. In a candid interview on the TV show Revealed last month, the Oscar winner revealed, "He is the most special man. He's incredibly loving and so supportive and brilliant, and so funny. Fiennes' Toothy Terror
Movie star Ralph Fiennes designed his own dentures for his horrific new big screen creation in Silence Of The Lambs prequel Red Dragon. The actor's latest character, sicko serial killer Francis Dolarhyde, wears his dead grandmother's dentures when he kills his victims and Fiennes was so keen to portray the full horror of his latest role, he insisted on wearing ill-fitting teeth. Dolarhyde is also described as having a cleft palate, and so the actor studied all manner of dentistry to try and get into the head of writer Thomas Harris' terrifying creation. He explains, "I had to really be clear about what having a cleft palate does and if you had it badly fixed you would have your hard palate brought together but would have no teeth. For most of the film I wear good looking dentures - my own teeth - but then Dolarhyde had developed this whole weird thing of putting in his grandmother's teeth, which he wears to murder people and bites them. I found it's very hard to wear somebody else's dentures but the guy who made the prosthetic said it's impossible to wear someone else's dentures. But if you want to you can pretty much fit anything in your mouth if you practice at it. I had to practice keeping them in so the muscles in my mouth would accept them. I actually kept a set of the good dentures and then I had to do some looping so I got two sets of false teeth." Fiennes admits he got quite attached to his fake gnashers. He adds, "I got upset because they fitted very comfortably on the front of my teeth and I would take them out to eat lunch and have a sandwich and this one day I went back to work and forgot I didn't have them back in. I thought I had betrayed my character."

Parents Thrilled With Director's Grief Tribute
The parents of murdered actress Rebecca Schaeffer have praised director Brad Silberling for turning their traumatic story into a hit new film. Silberling was dating Schaffer when she was killed by a stalker in 1989, and was even a suspect at one point. But he's turned the harrowing tale of grief into acclaimed new film Moonlight Mile, starring Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandon. And Benson and Danna Schaeffer are calling his project a masterpiece. Benson Schaefer says, "This movie will bring her back to people's minds." His wife Danna adds, "It's really hard to see it both as a participant and as a moviegoer, but it's a great movie, a classic about grief." Benson states he was particularly moved by something Silberling said in a recent interview about trying to figure out a way to allow all concerned a way to live the rest of their lives. He adds, "That was so powerful and very well said. After the murder of your daughter it's very easy to sink into bitterness and I've sunk there from time to time. What he said made sense." The Schaeffers admit the film has presented a few problems for them - because moviegoers can't help but try and empathize with them. Danna explains, "One lady said, 'I know just how you felt, my dog died last week, ' and she meant it."
Schwimmer Insists He's Not the Bad Guy
David Schwimmer has been forced to defend his name after gossips claimed he's the reason why Friends will end next year. The sitcom, which started its final season last week, is scheduled to wrap up next spring after a decade at the top of the world's TV ratings charts. But fans have been hoping for a change of heart in recent weeks after cast members Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc suggested this season might not signal the end for Friends in interviews. And now gossips are speculating that Schwimmer, who plays Ross Geller on the show, is the only cast member who is keen to walk away from the record-breaking sitcom. Schwimmer has been appearing on TV shows this week, insisting that's not the case and that he too is "open" to suggestions to keep the show on the air. Speaking on this morning's Today show in America, he said, "We've just started the new season and we're just concentrating on having a great time at work, which we are, and we'll have to obviously address that in the next five months. I'm an open person. We'll see what happens."
Jennifer Lopez has denied claims that she is pregnant and says she is frustrated with constant press reports to the contrary.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, J.Lo explained that every time a pregnancy is rumoured, her mum is the first person to call.
"The first time it happened was the one that was most devastating to her," she said. "Now I'm like: 'Mum, I promise, if I'm pregnant, I will call you first.
"My mother has been dealing with this for few years now, so it's not really a new thing for her."

Late Soul II Soul singer Doreen Waddell was killed accidentally after fleeing security guards who accused her of shoplifting, an inquest into her death has found. The inquest yesterday was told how the 36-year-old departed the award-winning 80s soul band and descended into a life of petty crime and prostitution to fund her crack cocaine habit.
Mother-of-one Doreen was fatally knocked over by three cars on the A27 road in Shoreham, West Sussex in March after running from guards at a Tesco supermarket store. A friend of the tragic singer claimed she ran after an argument with a un-named man who was paying her for sex. Pal Anthony Tavener said, "She got to know a man MR X. He gave her money for what she described as sexual favours. She used that money for drugs."
Mr X told the court he had driven Waddell to the store to buy cigarettes, but drove off after a row with the singer. Coroner Roger Stone said he didn't believe store staff pursuing Waddell caused her death. Issuing a verdict of accidental death Stone said, "If someone was in hot pursuit I am satisfied there would have been evidence somewhere of that having occurred." (wenn)

Robbie Williams' long-time songwriting partner may leave the rock star because of an exclusive clause in his £80m contract.
Guy Chambers wrote the music for smash hits like Millennium, Let Me Entertain You, Angels and Eternity.
Now Robbie's management want Guy to write exclusively for their artist as part of the former Take That singer's record signing with EMI.
But the songwriter has said that he is keen to work with other artists as well as Williams.

Brad Pitt is the latest star to take on the role of adventurer Sinbad in a new animated DreamWorks project. Director James Cox tells news sources that both Holmes' ex-wife and ex-girlfriend have consulted on the film, which is scheduled to start shooting in November.
John Holmes was cleared of any involvement in the Laurel Canyon murders. He died from AIDS in 1988.
Producer and director Bruce Paltrow, the father of actress Gwyneth Paltrow, has died at the age of 58. Paltrow passed away at a hospital in Rome, according to a US diplomatic official.
The American consulate in the Italian capital was informed of the death on Thursday.
"The consular section of the embassy was contacted by the hospital where Mr Paltrow died," the Associated Press news agency quoted the unnamed official as saying.
"It is the embassy's responsibility to help with the return of the remains."
He did not provide any further details.
But reports said Paltrow died of a heart attack before dawn on Wednesday.
He had been suffering from throat cancer.
Paltrow, who was married to actress Blythe Danner, lived in Los Angeles.
He flew to Italy to celebrate his daughter's 30th birthday on 27 September, according to reports.
Over the last week, he appeared in public on several occasions, and attended the Italian premiere of the Tom Cruise film Minority Report.
Paltrow is best known for directing his daughter in the 2000 film Duets, and for producing the TV series Homicide: Life On The Streets and St Elsewhere.
Rock bad boy Tommy Lee and his TV star ex-wife Pamela Anderson have finally reached an agreement for custody of their two children, Brandon, 6, and Dylan, 4. The pair has notified a Los Angeles court this week of an equal joint-custody arrangement, according to a spokesperson for Lee.
"Tommy is obviously thrilled with the outcome," Lee's spokesperson told LAUNCH.
The settlement puts an end to a contentious and very public battle over the children. Anderson has characterized Lee as a poor role model and a "very angry, unstable man who presents a danger to others, particularly when he is using alcohol," AP reports. Lee countered that he has been sober for two years and presents no threat to the boys.
Lee told LAUNCH earlier this summer that he regrets the road he went down with Anderson to begin with. "Getting married in four days was the biggest f--kin' mistake I've ever made," he said. "I have two beautiful kids, but that was retarded, OK? That was stupid. How can you know somebody in four days?...Bonehead."

The American pop legend, who set up home in Britain around the time of her 2000 wedding to the director, admits she would never have become such an Anglophile - had it not been for her spouse's persistence.
She jokes, "I consider myself an English chap. I'm a lad. No, I don't know. I feel like I'm a bit of an Anglophile, because Guy is, and that's what happens when you fall in love with somebody, what they love to do you want to experience too. So you start doing it as well. Reese Witherspoon and husband Ryan Phillippe have got Hollywood's top gossips talking after turning up to a charity event on Sunday sporting mystery injuries. The young couple attended a benefit for a rape treatment center in Santa Monica, California, but were saying nothing about their new injuries. Witherspoon was sporting a cast on her left leg, while Phillippe had a bandage covering a gash over his right eye. A spokesman for the actress insists she broke her foot weeks ago, but she attended the premiere of her new film Sweet Home Alabama last week without a cast.

Hollywood beauty Michelle Pfeiffer turned down three high profile roles - for the sake of her children. The What Lies Beneath actress was offered Basic Instinct, Silence Of The Lambs and Evita in the nineties - but opted to fulfill the role of mother instead. Although the famous beauty doesn't regret her choices she wishes she could have played Eva Peron in Evita, a part which eventually went to Madonna, as it was a dream role. Pfeiffer, mother to Claudia, 10, and John, 8, says, "I wish I could have done Evita, but not doing it was the right choice at the time. "I finished Dangerous Minds when I was seven months pregnant then I started doing demos for Oliver Stone who was set to direct Evita, but then I had my son and the timing was so wrong." However, there is a lingering performance from her auditions for the role - a tape of her singing "Don't Cry For Me Argentina." She says, "Oh God! Maybe they got rid of. But the strange thing is, to the day, my son doesn't like me to sing, and I think it was because I sang those songs when he was in my stomach. I think I was trying to hit those notes, and he was in there going, 'Arrrgh.'"

Madonna is fuming after learning her new James Bond theme Die Another Day has been leaked to New York radio stations.
The morning show on pop station Z100 aired the new tune, which Madonna representatives claim isn't even complete yet, last Friday (27 Sep 02). And now 55 stations across the state have got hold of the song and have it on rotation. The song isn't due to be released until later this month (Oct 02).
Madonna has a small role as a fencing instructor in the Pierce Brosnan-led 007 flick, the 20th in the spy franchise, which is due to hit screens in America and the UK on 22 November (02).(WENN)

Pop superstar Madonna is planning to return to Broadway - fourteen years after her last performance.
The pop diva will collaborate with choreographer Jamie King who has encouraged her to resume ballet training.
Madonna appeared on Broadway in 1998 in the play Speed The Plow and added to that with a recent run on London's West End in Up For Grabs.

Heaton shocked viewers of David Letterman's late night talk show in America last week when she talked joked about Pfeiffer's cosmetic surgery, but now she insists she was joking. Heaton says, "In an attempt at being humorous, I made statements regarding an actress and plastic surgery that were completely fabricated. I have since spoken with Michelle, and she has very graciously accepted my apology." Heaton also blamed the media for misconstruing her comments and assuming she was talking about Pfeiffer. A spokeswoman for Pfeiffer confirmed the apology has been accepted but says, "This is serious. I don't want this to just be a joke that went awry."
Prosecutors in Winona Ryder's forthcoming shoplifting trial have requested the dismissal of a felony drug charge against the actress. The Edward Scissorhands beauty, 30, had been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance since it was alleged she was carrying the painkiller Oxycodone when arrested on charges of shoplifting $6,000 worth of goods from Saks Fifth Avenue department store in Beverly Hills last December. Today the Los Angeles District Attorney said they were making the request "in the interests of justice" after receiving a sworn statement from a defense witness. The actress' attorney Mark Geragos had always maintained his famous client had a prescription for the painkillers. Winona has pleaded not guilty to all the charges of second degree burglary, grand theft, vandalism and possession of a controlled substance and was released on $20,000 bail. The trial, which has been delayed several times, is due to start on Tuesday. Deputy District Attorney Ann Rundle said in a statement today that she was ready to go ahead with the trial on the remaining three felony counts of grand theft, commercial burglary and vandalism.

John Witherspoon, 29, who is employed as a chauffeur for the Legally Blonde actress, allegedly crept into a local Nashville, Tennessee resident's home and tried to strip the victim as she slept on her sofa. When the 25-year-old woman woke up, John allegedly kissed her on the face and neck before trying to take off her clothes. The victim recognized him so he stopped and quickly fled. John was charged with sexual battery and aggravated burglary on Saturday and has been released on $24,000 bail. When contacted by the press, the 26-year-old actress' publicist issued a "no comment."

Paltrow has been very vocal in recent weeks about her relationship with her beloved dad and friends know the death of her dad will have devastated her because she's closer to her father than most daughters. In a candid interview on the TV show Revealed last month, the Oscar winner revealed, "He is the most special man. He's incredibly loving and so supportive and brilliant, and so funny. I just feel really lucky to have him. There are some people in your life that you feel like, `If this person wasn't around I wouldn't make it, ' and I feel that way about my dad." 
Movie star Ralph Fiennes designed his own dentures for his horrific new big screen creation in Silence Of The Lambs prequel Red Dragon. The actor's latest character, sicko serial killer Francis Dolarhyde, wears his dead grandmother's dentures when he kills his victims and Fiennes was so keen to portray the full horror of his latest role, he insisted on wearing ill-fitting teeth. Dolarhyde is also described as having a cleft palate, and so the actor studied all manner of dentistry to try and get into the head of writer Thomas Harris' terrifying creation. He explains, "I had to really be clear about what having a cleft palate does and if you had it badly fixed you would have your hard palate brought together but would have no teeth. For most of the film I wear good looking dentures - my own teeth - but then Dolarhyde had developed this whole weird thing of putting in his grandmother's teeth, which he wears to murder people and bites them. I found it's very hard to wear somebody else's dentures but the guy who made the prosthetic said it's impossible to wear someone else's dentures. But if you want to you can pretty much fit anything in your mouth if you practice at it. I had to practice keeping them in so the muscles in my mouth would accept them. I actually kept a set of the good dentures and then I had to do some looping so I got two sets of false teeth." Fiennes admits he got quite attached to his fake gnashers. He adds, "I got upset because they fitted very comfortably on the front of my teeth and I would take them out to eat lunch and have a sandwich and this one day I went back to work and forgot I didn't have them back in. I thought I had betrayed my character."

Reese Witherspoon and husband Ryan Phillippe have got Hollywood's top gossips talking after turning up to a charity event on Sunday sporting mystery injuries.
